Travelling is one of my favorite things to do - one day I hope to visit every continent.

From an archaeological perspective, this course taught me how humans worked with the environment to create complex tools, structures, and civilizations. Learning was done through discussion posts, a Google Earth map, E-Timeline, quizzes, and slide presentations. We looked at specific case studies - such as Stonehenge and Catalhoyuk -in an attempt to understand how and why they were built. This course really provoked me to think about "What really makes us human?"

BENJAMIN A. GILMAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
Three years of doubt. Is studying abroad worth the financial burden? Are these study abroad programs even relevant to my career or academic goals? What do I do? These are three years of questions that I asked myself as an undergraduate. I searched and searched for relevant study abroad programs so I could take the leap, but there was almost nothing. I’ve wanted to study abroad ever since my freshman year at the University of Florida, but it wasn't until my fourth year that I finally succeeded.

A month before the application was due I finally found UF in Galway - Psychology of Intercultural Diversity. Not only would it complement my psychology background, but also my inner curiosity for other cultures.
I applied for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and was fortunate enough to receive the award for the summer of 2018. This, along with the Bright Futures Scholarship, helped fund my entire trip. Without this opportunity I would never have fulfilled my dream of studying abroad, nor reassured myself that I can thrive when put into new environments.
