Travelling is one of my favorite things to do - one day I hope to visit every continent.

From an archaeological perspective, this course taught me how humans worked with the environment to create complex tools, structures, and civilizations. Learning was done through discussion posts, a Google Earth map, E-Timeline, quizzes, and slide presentations. We looked at specific case studies - such as Stonehenge and Catalhoyuk -in an attempt to understand how and why they were built. This course really provoked me to think about "What really makes us human?"

WELCOME!
My name is Karla J. Girón and I am a 3rd year PhD student in Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University (ASU). I completed my undergraduate journey in December of 2018 with a B.S. in Psychology (Behavioral & Cognitive Neuroscience) and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Florida (UF). In 2021, I earned my M.S. in Family, Youth and Community Sciences from my alma mater. I am a 1.5 generation immigrant hailing from Panama, hoping to make a difference within the Latinx community by reducing health disparities through my research and clinical work. Though my general lifetime experiences have certainly shaped who I am today, my growth as a leader, individual, and global citizen is ongoing. By creating this portfolio I hope to show you how these experiences continue to change me and my work. Feel free to explore each section of my journey.
